The idea behind the game
A passion project about biology, survival, and the tiny world inside us.
What is Shepherd's Cells?
Shepherd's Cells is a game about what's already happening inside your body — right now, without you thinking about it. You play as a single cell in a living colony, splitting, growing, and fighting off infection while managing the chaotic biology of your own organism.
The goal was to make cell biology feel tangible and intuitive. Concepts like immune response, viral infection, and cellular division aren't just textbook diagrams here — they're mechanics you feel under your fingertips. When a faulty cell starts spreading sickness through your colony, you understand viscerally what inflammation means. When an antibody finally tags a pathogen and your T-Cells close in, you've just lived through adaptive immunity.
It's not a biology simulator. It's a game first — but one that tries to leave you with a genuine intuition for how cells work, built through play rather than study.
Solo indie project
Shepherd's Cells is made entirely by one person — design, code, art, and everything in between. No studio, no team. Just a developer who got fascinated by cell biology and couldn't stop building.
It's in active development and changing fast. Expect rough edges, expect updates, and expect the game to grow into something bigger.
